Began Purge Process
During the last couple of months this year, we decided to start purging from our mass of stuff. This is in preparation for something you’ll read about later, but we have good reason to start this process and continue it through next year.
Listened to or read 25+ books
I’m not a huge reader, but I do like to listen to audiobooks, especially while driving. In January, I set a goal for myself to listen to 25 books with Goodreads. Although I’ve set goals before, this is the first year that I have met the goal. My total count for 2019 is 27 books.
Upgraded my wardrobe with tailored suits
While I was deployed, the Canadian Soldiers at our base found a tailor that came out to the base and measured you for suits and/or sports coats. I decided that, since the prices were relativity cheap compared to what I could get done in the states, I would have a couple of suits and a sports coat made especially for me.
Found Peaky Blinders
During my deployment, I kept getting asked if I had watched Peaky Blinders. (It’s all because I wear flat caps.) After about the fifth time, I decided to see what the fuss was all about. I’m glad I did. If you’ve not seen this show, I highly recommend it. Just don’t watch around kids!
Paid off my truck nine months early
Due to the poor customer service with my loan company, I decided to take some money out of savings and go ahead and pay off the truck. This has allowed me to focus on other debt and return funds to my savings.
Rekindled my love for golf
After returning from my deployment, I had to spend a month in El Paso, TX. While packing for the trip, I decided to take my clubs with me. Even though I only played five rounds during the time I was there, I rekindled my love for the game.
Started golf lessons
While on a TDY trip to Ft. Lee, VA, I met up with a buddy from my first deployment. He introduced me to a company that offers lessons and will video those lessons so that you can take the videos with you to the range and continue to practice. I started lessons in November at GolfTec while I know it will be a long journey, I have high hopes that my game will improve.
Became a member at a golf course
Since I’ve decided that I want to play as much golf as I can, I found a way to play cheaper. If you’re ever at Champion’s Run Golf Course in Murfreesboro, keep an eye out for me.
Visited Gettysburg
While on a training exercise at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA, I was afforded the opportunity to visit Gettysburg National Military Park. As a history buff, it was definitely a place I’ve always wanted to visit and it did not disappoint.
Until next time, thanks for reading and take care!
